The hamstring curls using an exercise ball is a great bodyweight exercise for beginners that doesn’t require any big machines that can be done at home or in the gym.
The Set-Up:
- To perform the hamstring curl using an exercise ball, lay on the floor and place your heels on top of an exercise ball.
- To help keep your balance, place your arms straight out to your sides.
Performing The Exercise:
- Dig your heels straight down into the ball and “drag” the ball towards your body as far as possible without lifting your lower back off the floor.
- Be sure to keep your heels pushed into the ball.
- Then return the ball to the starting position.
Performance Tips:
To prevent cramps in the calves, pull your toes back as you do the exercise.
